Our hidden secrets within the Northern Suburbs

When moving into a new area it’s always good to know what the locals love about their suburb and more often than not there is always a secret café, park or location that the general public tends to forget about or not even know about. So for this week’s topic I thought It would be a great opportunity to point out my three favourite places within the Northern Suburbs that you may not know exist.

1. Moonah is now home to its own Micro Brewery

With Micro Brewery’s fast becoming a popular choice for a lot of people it’s no surprise that is actually hard to keep up with all the new brewery’s currently available within Hobart. One that caught our eye is Fox Friday Craft Brewery who recently opened up in Moonah.

Fox Friday currently open their cellar doors at 6/14a Main Road Moonah on Wednesday + Friday Nights and are currently brewing three beers within their range including:

Bombshell Blonde features a light and sweet malty base with delicate citrus, passion and stone fruit flavours. An ale style beer with a fresh crispness and subtle floral aroma. 5.0%

Bangarang Brown melds a smooth caramel biscuit profile with touches of toffee, chocolate and coffee. Carefully balancing the heaviness of a darker beer with earthy and fruity hop flavours. 5.4%

The prototype series is an avenue for Fox Friday brewers to be adventurous and test new concepts. Beers in this series are produced in small runs – if you like them, let us know and be sure to see them in the line-up

2. Main Road Glenorchy holds Tasmania’s best burger joint!

Steve from "Stevo's Takeaway"

It would be incredibly easy to drive past Stevo’s takeaway each day and not give it another thought however what gets cooked up inside by Steve could easily be Tasmania’s best burgers. Ranging from chicken burgers, steak, vegetable and pulled pork there is something for everyone.

Cooked to order they are a must to try when travelling throuhg Main Road Glenorchy, just be prepared for the fact that once you have tasted one there is no going back as Stevo’s Takeaway is highly addictive.

3. Frisbee golf hidden within Austin’s Ferry

A lot of suburbs have great park and recreational areas however one the quite often gets overlooked is Poimena Reserve, home to Glenorchy’s frisbee golf course. This park is a great location to take the kids for some fun in the sun and once you have finished a round of golf why not take advantage of the BBQ Huts by cooking up some lunch.
