RACT 2021 City to Casino Finish

No amount of coldness can stop the burning desires of many of the 4one4 Property Co Team- and over 2,400 others from participating in the return of the oldest fun run in Tasmania on Sunday morning.

Like many things, Due to the global pandemic ast year the event was put on hold. Haydyn Nielsen, the Race Director, said that the participants may be smaller in number this year compared to the previous events during the pre-Covid years, but still, “it was fantastic to be back”.

The annual City to Casino Fun Run & Walk opens its doors to Tasmanians of all ages and abilities. It was held at Wrest Point Casino and the race proper started at exactly 8:00 am. In its 48th year, it consisted of four (4) different categories: (1) 11km Run, (2) 7km Run, (3) 7km Walk, and (4) 2.7km Run.

For the 11km Run, David Thomas and Ruby Smee were announced as winners for the men’s and women’s category with 33min44sec and 36min32sec times respectively..

And of course, our team at 4one4 Property Co. didn’t let this opportunity to come together  just slip away. (After all, we are RUNNING People!!!)

Sebastian Kitchener (4one4 MediaHouse)

For the past six (6) years, we have been consistent in gracing the event (except last year, of course… though it should be noted that one Staff member did attempt a Run similar to their treadmill) and this year, eighteen (18) of our staff members and some family members participated in the fun run.

“It’s a good opportunity to be able to encourage others to do better than what they think they can do,” said Abbey Berry, Director of 4one4 Property Management, who also organized the team for the event, when asked about the significance of the race among the team.

Joining the event has become one of the traditions of the team as it is also used as a good team building exercise amongst staff, with participants even walking with babies in prams for the past years. Berry sees this as something fun to do outside the working hours. “We also go for breakfast afterwards, so it’s a nice opportunity to catch up with everybody and have some more interaction with the team in a social setting,” she added.

There were representatives from our team to all the categories. Berry mentioned how everybody set some personal goals and worked towards them. At the end of the day, the people from our team with the best results were: Aaron Murray putting in a gallant effort in the 11km Run with very little training and still getting a Sub-5 minute Kilometre average (53:04 for the 11km Run), Benjamin Henderson (36:18 for the 7km Run) sacrificed an attempt at a Personal best to support our 4one4 Mediahouse Guru Sebastian Kitchener over the line when he ran into some trouble with just 1 km of the run to go; Jill Rogers came in 5th Overall for the 7km Walk with her time of 50:07, and Parker Berry, one of our younger entrants did very well with his 20:28 for the 2.7km Run.

Our Legs might be sore today, but our smiles are wide and we had such a good time participating in the 2021 RACT City to Casino Fun Run- our team will definitely be back next year… because after all, we are RUNNING people. (*wink)
